Fish Cardiff Reef Friday?
If the surf and wind calms down enough, I am planning on giving Cardiff Reef a try Friday. Anyone interested in joining me?

Cardiff Reef
I would love to join you, but I gotta work. North County Kayak Anglers has a lot of stuff scheduled for North County coming up soon and throughout the summer. Oceanside reef, Carlsbad kelp and cans... Great if you can join us.

Can't join you on Friday, but wouldn't mind giving it a go once I'm settled into my new shop.

We're do some filming at Cardiff on Friday morning around 9am. Look for a Hobie Pro Angler and a few stand up paddle boards. We're filming surf tests on the Prangler and testing out some rotomolded stand up paddle boards from Yolo. After we film, I'm heading out to fish the Cardiff kelp. See you Friday

I'll look for you Nate. I will be in a Revo just like yours. Maybe your cameras will catch me landing that 50# YT that you claim is prowling the area.

There's no YT in North County.

Cardiff Report
Well, those who did not join me in Cardiff today did not miss much. The surf was much larger than predicted at launch time. I had to wait about 15 minutes for a lull but made it outside without incident.
Nate and Drew were there testing some new stand-up paddle boards. They were supposed to be filiming the new Hobie Pro Angler, (Prangler?) but I never saw them outside the surf line. Maybe the large surf was more than they wanted to take on with such a big kayak. The water near the kelp was dirty and about 60 degrees. There was a strong onshore current and lots of bumps on the water. I saw plenty of bait but the bigger fish mostly took the day off. I did catch a few small ones, (barricuda, macks and Callico), but nothing worth bragging about. Thankfully the surf had died down by the time I headed in. I managed to position myself between swells and peddled all the way in without getting hit from behind. It almost felt like I knew what I was doing. All in all, it was a nice day on the water. Maybe next time the fish will show up too. Bob |
