Black Pearl 2 Day
Departed around 10:00 PM. with 9 passengers. Headed to Santa Rosa near Ford Point with 5 scoops of fin bait and frozen squid. Captain Rick hoped we could get live squid from the light boats. Breakfast of french toast and bacon on Sat. morning, then kayaks in the water. Various shallow water rock fish. a few calicos and sheepshead. Had burgers and potato salad for lunch then moved to Johnson's Lee. Better rock fishing there. Lasagna and salad for dinner then made a move toward Skunk Point. Found the light boats but no sale; moved away and made our own squid. Anchored up in Beechers late. A couple went out in the skiff to set hoop nets. Several crabs for the effort. Breakfast burritos and yaks in the water to fish halibut. They bit sardines and live squid. Seven legals and several shorts along with leopard sharks. Moved a mile east to the mothership and finished off the trip with more rockfish. Chili dog dinners and back to Port around 10:45 PM. Weather was excellent and crew did another good job. Captain Rick was impressed with how hard we fished the halibut. He was amazed we took 7 legals in late December. That's all I got; bosco
