Good Luck Brother
Is this guy for real?
I hope he has a compass or GPS. It also looks like he is alone. I wouldn't go out in that weather. Looks like he has been waiting for the weather to clear.

Now he has company.
Am I the only one who sees this as unsafe?

No biggie.....
Rental kayak tourists ....
A local kayak fisherman with a depth-finder (or someone who can count the cranks of the handle on the reel ) is one thing, even without a GPS or compass, maybe fishing up north in the pier area and staying in relatively shallow water. The fish could care less about the fog, wind, and most weather that make fisherman go back to bed, especially when fishing on the bottom . Now, for tourists with very little ocean experience, and no electronics in pea-soup fog....I'll be watching the news tonight .

I launched early and it never let up. If you have good marks on the GPS and go in with a plan, it can be done safely.
even 'crazy-3:30-AM-walks-in-the-surf-with-jeans-on-every-morning-guy' looked at me like I was crazy. |

We ended up stuck in Denver for the night Monday, because they apparently closed Lindberg Field Monday due to the heavy fog and cancelled our flight. (It was all good as it gave us 2 more days with family on the airlines bill!)
I have to agree with Dorf though, especially after my last adventure. I think it can be done safely with the proper equipment, but you have no control over the PBs and larger vessels that may not see our speed bump asses! |

Reminds me of a story of someone going out for Bugs in the same conditions...
