10/22 Hoop Report
Launched the yaks out of SI with my wingman Sherm at about 5:00 pm. Had some "scary" fun after getting WAY to close to an outbound cruise ship . The wake lifted me up and pointed my nose almost straight down, thought for sure I was gonna lose it with 4 nets riding up on my bow but rode it out with a puckered butt hole.
Got out to the spot and had nets soaking by 6:15. 1st pull only a couple big rock crabs. Dogs were thick at times. We watched a parade of them go by at one point early on . Two were even fighting with each other right under our nets The dogs finally moved on and we started getting bugs untilthe tide went slack and they stopped crawling. Started the paddle in around 10:00 pm. Stopped and chatted with my son Nick (Masta) who had just arrived for an all-nighter. Looking forward to his report. Brought home 2 keeper bugs & 3 nice rock crab. Scott will add pics. Did a little fishing while waiting for pulls and got smelt, sculpin. porn macs, and queenfish. Nice warm night, flat conditions, and good company. Peace, Spyder P.S. - Like to give big time props to Point Loma OEX. After loading my nets and getting all gear prepped I realized that I had forgotten both my seat & PFD at home. Cruised over to OEX and they kicked me down both items to use for the night. Thanks guys |

Good Job Sherm!
Wound out not being to make it out, had some issues with the pool that needed to be resolved. Going to head out Sunday night after the Chargers game. Hopefully the dogs had some sort of fighting disease that makes them kill each other and it spreads rampant among all socal dogs. BT

Sorry to hear you didn't make it. Glad I didn't try to reach you on the radio. Good luck Sunday evening.

Nice job on those creatures! Night time in the yak is sure a different ballgame. I had a similar exp last week with a big set that came in way too close for comfort out of the dark
