Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament - Summer Slam 2023

June 3rd, 2023

This is the one and only Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament for offshore anglers in SE Florida.

https://www.extremekayakfishingtourn...chedule.html#/

It is in its twelfth year of operation. Historically the earlier tournaments have produced more Blackfin Tuna. Lately, it's been a little slow, but I would expect to see some Kings, Blackfin and Mahi make it to the stage this year. Before covid, Extreme held two tournaments per summer, but now just the earlier one.

Over 6K for first place winner

Last night's Captain's meeting had a good raffle. There was plenty of free pizza and barbeque chicken wings to eat while catching up with fellow anglers that many had not seen since the last tournament. Among the gifts given away were a kayak and a 9" Simrad fishfinder. I don't think any kayakers from California made it to this years tournament, but I did meet an angler that drove 20 hours from Texas. The competition is less than previous years, expecting to see about 50 anglers on the beach Saturday morning.
