I was under the impression that that law was already in place...

Interesting... I was also under the impression that it was illegal to purposefully target white sharks. So I guess I have no issue with the law being "official," but I really don't like how they are kind of villainizing fishermen here. "Fishermen want to use fishing methods that will hurt someone." Really? What kind of fisherman is like "Can't wait to use this method of fishing so I can hurt someone!" I don't know anyone that says things like that or would even want to target a great white. I don't work at the CADFW, so maybe this is a bigger problem outside of my OC/LA bubble? Don't mind the law, but would not want it to set a precedent for future regulations that would impact responsible fishermen.

Hopefully.....
The white shark was accidentally hooked.
I hate to think of idiots out there white shark fishing for the tug. Chalk another up for the seals and sealions.

I accidently hooked one while fishing along Doheny Beach, was fishing for leopards for some fun on light tackle. It didn't last long...
