Dana Point 4/24 report
Fished 20-30 foot deep outside to break water today. Water still only 60° but enough to get the bass to bite. Caught two grumpy Sandy’s and three calicoes. No surface action, All fish caught laying lure on bottom with grubs and twin tails and very slow retrieve. Biggest calico was a nice break about 17 inches/4 pounds. Caught and released to tease another day!

Props to you. Surf swell was pumping at doho. Capo reefs ripping! Wind looked manageable but seemed to blow steady. Nice work on the bass! No pain no reward, less than ideal conditions.
Water now all brown and churned while swell moves through. |

Good job on a pretty less than perfect day!
The swells were up pretty high on the beach 4-5’. They were crashing pretty good along the long jetty. It turns out that a rental kayak flippped in the surf and was brought back to the dock and not too long after a Boston Whaler was brought back to the boat launch. Word was that he capsized off Doheny on an outer reef. |
