LJ 4-2-21
Hit up LJ with my man T.O. Bait was tough to make, no signs of birds and the sea dogs weren’t out playin either. Trolled a nomad around for a whole with no luck. Headed to a rock fish spot and the wind made it tough to stay over the drops. Wrapped up with the rock fish and started trolling the nomad again. Worked the kelp for a while, pulled up a small calico. Around 1 o’clock this hungry home guard absolutely smashed the nomad. 25 minutes later game was over.

Congrats on a really nice Homeguard. Your description of the trip, trying to find bait, searching for bird action and other marine life for signs of bait, troll a Nomad some ,drop on structure some, that all sound like what I've done the last four trips out to LJ the last couple weeks. The big difference is you found yourself "in the right spot at the right time", congrats. I loved it when I've had it happen to me. Those Homeguard Yellowtail, are one of the very best trophy fish you can find in LJ. Some days those bites happen without ever having or seeing good marks on the FF.

That is the SOLO SKIFF and I love mine. There are a bunch on guys on a waiting list for the SOLO SKIFF due to it being a small company and demand is increasing. I was lucky and only had to wait just over 2 months for it last year. It is a GAME CHANGER. OEX is the local dealer I purchased it from and Brent was awesome in helping with all the ordering and accessories.

Whew thats a nice one! Also curious what kind of lure it was. Those Nomad DTX Minnows seem to be killing it all around so cal these days.
