LJ Red Tide Update

I live about six miles west of the shores and my whole neighborhood’s been stinking when the sea breeze is up. Smells like dead fish and rotten seaweed. Went to the launch today and saw the sign in the first pic. Smell was nasty.

Went up the hill to where the 1% live and got the second pic. There’s actually a little blue water along the beach, but outside of the pier there’s a huge strip of dark red water that goes south right through the kelp all the way past Bird Rock.

Went by the cove as well. There were a bunch of birds going apeshit just inside the reserve at the break between the green and red water. The fish in the kelp must be having a rough time. Low oxygen.

Hope this washes out soon.

Thanks for update, was thinking of launching Sat. That stuff has to effect quality of fish, they gotta live in that, granting Im sure they are all pushed down to the bottom. Not worth dealing with possible health issues getting wet and dealing with that stink.

Wow, I didn't see that sign on Tuesday. When I landed I couldn't tell how deep it was because of the red tide and I jumped out way too early. I had to grab the back of my pro angler and let it drag me in because I was in a few feet over my head. Needless to say, I took a fair dousing of that crap. I didn't get sick..yet.

Hows the water looking now. Was thinking of heading up there on Thur as the wind looks good that day.

Any fishing updates from anyone?

Thanks!
