32-year-old man missing after kayak capsizes in Lake Perris

WOW...It was calm and nice on Saturday but Lake Perris can get really choppy when the wind picks-up.

"The statement said the man had a life jacket strapped to his kayak but was not wearing a life jacket."

Damn; not a professional but sounds like a medical emergency.. I know we all get comfortable at times but this is a good reminder to always wear your pfd, and one that will still keep you afloat without having to activate c02 carts in case of said emergency..

Hopefully his family gets the closure they seek..

In the event of a medical emergency, you better know what type PFD you have. Not all are created equal. Only Type I PFDs will guarantee to float you face up. But they are bulky. Other types will float you but not necessarily an unconscious person face up.

I too was that dumb when I stated years ago, to worry more about the kayak and put the PFD on the kayak instead of me. You can always replace the kayak. Things happen faster out there then you can say SHIT!. Then it's too late. Very sorry for his family.
