First launch of 2019
Welcome all to the 2019 fishing year. Fishinmike and I launched for the first time from the Shelter Island Wading beach. Got there at about 6:30 as the sun was rising. Cool morning no breeze. Tide almost at its high peak. Saw a couple takers just getting out. Met a guy that maybe of some use to you all if you need a yak for a friend that needs one for the day. His name is Kaleb and just started his own business Kayak Fishing San Diego. He delivered yaks to the beach for some fishermen that were yakless.
Launched and was surprised that the water was not as cold as I thought it would be. Light breeze. Not a very successful day. 4 fish total. Hit my small motor oil red grub and my lime green plastic. Couple small lazy bites but nothing more. One of the four was about 10-11 inches. Lots of water movement. Fishinmike: 4 spotties and 1 sandie. All 12 inches or more Bubbacee: 3 spotties and 1 sandie. Can’t wait to get out again. |

Nice catch man. I like your reports. Do you know what the water temp was.

Bearly - my guess is about 62 degrees. Try casting let it drag the bottom as you drift
