Depression sucks, life does NOT
Depression sucks
by Makobob Are there bumps on your road to Baja, is depression getting you down? Is your health bad, did you lose a close friend or mate. Does life in the states just go too fast for you or are you on a fixed income and just cannot make your money stretch? Depression sucks. Being depressed is a state of mind, YOUR mind. Yes they make a pill for that. When most of us are depressed we react by withdrawing from family and friends. We tend to drink too much and reject life and it's opportunities, for some drugs come into play. Depression is a KILLER. You may not die from being depressed but slowly from the inside you pull away from life. And so you wither away. You die emotionally, and it is very hard to bounce back to life. A good friend can sometimes help. But there are things you can do for yourself. Yes depression sucks. Try to do the things you enjoy. Take a friend fishing, or for a walk on a Baja beach. Collect sea shells, go for a warm swim in the Sea of Cortez. Enjoy a glass of wine by a campfire in the evening. Sit and converse with a friend going through a rough time. Call your family just to say Hello. In other words, TAKE YOUR LIFE back. Depression sucks. Set a goal and reach out, MAKE it happen. Plan a trip somewhere new or go to YOUR favorite place. If you cannot get there physically then do so MENTALLY. While in this nursing home in which I find myself I mentally travel to my safe, sweet, favorite places. A quite Baja beach, I walk with my spinning rod in hand. Looking for that elusive corvina to pitch my crockodile to. Catch him or not my mind is in paradise and the depression is held at bay for another hour or two. Depression sucks. Another strategy I find helpful is to plan a future trip for others to enjoy mako-ville. Sharing with others beings me much happiness, and that too peels away the depressed feelings. Yes they make a pill for depression, but stepping back into the things you love, LIVING life, sharing, are the best medicine. Depression sucks. Life does NOT suck. Life is what we make it. If you are depressed, spend time with people who are having fun and enjoying their lives. Depression is a state of mind, YOUR MIND. And that my friends YOU can change. Live the life you love and LOVE the life you live. As always you are all welcome to join me in my paradise, mako-ville is open to all Baja nature lovers. Tight Lines and know you are always welcome in camp. Depression sucks.

Well said Bob! Most of us, if not all have been there at one time or another. I know I have. I have lost family and friends due to depression as well.
Today one of my Uncle's passed away and I now that this is a reality for his children. I can't wait for you to get out out so we can go hit the islands and do some shore fishing for that Corvina. I know your ready partner and the fish will be there waiting for you. Sending you some good vibes and prayers. See you soon!
