Can't remember the name of Beach?!
Hello guys, I met a guide while coming in this last weekend at La Jolla who recommended fishing a certain beach but I can't remember the name. Does anyone know the name of this beach based on the description?
The guide recommended this section of coastline somewhere north of La Jolla that has a sand bottom with no kelp and is bordered by rock cliffs. He said it doesn't really have big yellowtails but does have a good population of bonito and he recommended it because 1. I wouldn't have to deal with getting caught in kelp 2. I don't have a bait tank or a fish finder (poor graduate student) and he said bait was plentiful there and I wouldn't have a hard time catching new bait every time I lost my bait. This is a pretty vague description, but if anyone has a clue where this is and wants to help out a grad student living on ramen, it would be much appreciated! Much thanks, J.H. |

Torrey Pines State Beach - or Blacks Beach?
North of there, we are talking Del Mar, Solana Beach, Leucadia... |

I think that was it, good call. Is it easiest to just put in at La Jolla and paddle north to it? Any tips for fishing there?

Best to launch from La Jolla shores, but it is a long paddle up there. If you can get parking at Torrey Pines State Beach, and a bigger if the surf cooperates - as it can get pretty big up there, it would be a much shorter paddle.

If you bounce ball you might pick up a good butt. Tight Lines amigo.
