Tackle recommendations
I booked an overnight trip for next Friday. Cows are being landed on boat. If it does not tone down a notch or two I'll will be up a creek. I have a couple 20 gold Trinadads, torsa 30 , tallica 16 2 speed, and I think I have a gold 30. 65 lb braid on most. My rods are mostly 7 ft medium heavy, or heavy 30-65 Lb. I would be carrying a Swiss Army knife into a gun fight ? Opinions or suggestions. Buying a tallica 30 is not in budget. Thanks.

Just GO, if you get spooled so be it, at least you will have a few stories to tell.

Blows tends
Making drive after long day of paddling. Thanks for offer though . That tallica 2 is my best bet for anything 30-80 lb

There were dudes last couple seasons catching 200's on tranx and torium 16's. You will be fine with talica. Just set your drag accordingly.

I was on the Toronado and a 254 lbs tuna was landed on 60 lb main line tied to 80 lb flouroleader. Just have to make sure you have a really strong circle hook.
The other thing is that everyone seems to be crimping their lines instead of tying knots. Look into this. As far as reels- a 30 sized reel will suffice if the fish doesn't run directly down. Gonna take sometime 2-3 hours. but you could get that thing onboard in 30 mins with a 2 speed and 100lb mainline with 130lb leader. The heavy leader is imperative. would not use anything under 80 lb. Bluefin teeth are no joke and will pop line really easy.
