Chasin yesterdays bite!
Or should I say last week... Anyhow I got a call from my neighbor that they were catching Jurel from shore up to 15lbs. He said he had never seen anything like it.
Since it was a week away from my trip I figured it would die out. Luckily for me it didn't. Day1:Once I got there I drove MakoBob's Rhino down to our friend Jose's house at playa del sol with a freshwater bait caster with light tackle and a 1 oz croc tied to it. My buddy tells me the YT were still there and says just cast right there. There was about 4 birds just sitting on the water doing nothing I thought no way. I casted out to the birds about 15 feet out and the water exploded... I mean exploded with about the size of a movie theater of 5 to 15lb yt. I immediately hook up with this guy. By this time all 5 of us are hooked up and begin catching and releasing many tails. Then I hook up a larger model that looked between 15-20 lbs. I bring him in and get tangled with a buddy and he pops right off as I was about to grab the jig. I notice there is actually quite a few bigger models on the edges of the boils so I drive back and grab my yak and make the couple mile paddle down to his house while drinking a beer in disbelief. It took a while to find them but I found them about a half mile off the beach under some birds. I get my first ever kayak yt and a 2nd, 3rd and fourth. I kept one more as it was my dinner night and let the rest go. What a blast! Fresh fish tacos+ceviche for all. Good times. Unfortunately the next few days I got winded out so no fishing however I got lot's of work done on mine and Bob's place and no time was wasted. On Wednesday I meet up with a few BWE members who were coming up. Druko, Denis Ruso, Chris CJLEon and Chris138 all whom I never met before but it didn't take long to make new friends who like to fish baja. We spread out and some camp at MakoBob's and my place and others at MakoBob's other place. I ended up fishing Alfonsinas another day with not much luck. Denis Ruso was on the water early and did well. My last day there I fished my local reef and probably caught close to 50 spotties w some triggers in the mix on some light tackle in 2 hours. I couldn't get the yellows to go but had a blast anyway. Some of the guys went to the island. I let them report w their experience. I know Denis Ruso and CJleon got into a wide open mexican wsb bite in 2 feet of water right off shore too. All catch and release. So unreal! A couple of funny moments: Funny thing when I was fishing alfonsinas trying to poach Sven's WSB spot there was this old man fishing but naked off an aluminum boat w his dog. I was like wtf, he didn't even try to hide. I quickly paddled far away. I guess that's a good way to keep people away. (I did not care to take pics) I did get this one thou: (a new way to yak from the beach) Also a few others: Leftover yt for breakfast: Jurel con huevo's Good time's w new friends all from the BWE community. Hope we can all do it again soon! Tight line's.

Great report Rob. I've gotten a few yellows off the beach here in Asuncion but nothing of that quality. Way to get it done.
