Anyone Yak Channel Islands
Was wondering if anyone has been kayak fishing around Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz) and what they've caught. I've learned that Island Packers Cruises will allow yaks up to 16' for an extra fee. I realize that some spots of the Island chain are protected but Im sure some are open to fishing. Could make for a fun trip since the MOTHER SHIP excursions have seem to have lost its desire to host.

scorpion
I've stayed at the campground at scorpion on Santa Cruz Island several times. Island Packers will take you and your kayak there.
It's good fishing and lobster season is opening soon (usually good lobster in shallow water for a free diver - tanks are way too much trouble). Also the caves are great. It's a hike to the campground but well worth it. Be aware of the fishing areas where you can't fish. I didn't go there this summer but was told that the pier was taken out, but Island Packers will still get you there. |
