So, what are the problems that Steve Lindsay is referring to? Because the article does not specify them. Bad journalism or bad engineering? Probably both. Lindsay probably shouldn't be city engineer anymore. I work in construction and when you don't get the job done the first time you get fired. Sounds like Lindsay can't get the job done at all. Just another upper management finger pointer.

Thanks for the heads up. Let's leave it at that. I think the last time this came up everyone became an honorary engineer and gave their two cents on how they would've reconstructed the launch using kelp, sand, and marine goop.

Good question, it was an engineering problem. The footing for the first box was only 3 feet deep. El Nino heavy rain under minded the whole project and lifted the whole box up and runway. The first engineers really screwed up!

The new engineers are going to make the footing for the new box 8 feet deep. I think that is still not deep enough.
