Second kayak - peddle or paddle? - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Looking for your guys ideas - thinking about a second kayak for friends and family, also maybe for flexibility for different conditions. I have a PA 12 that I got used, still not 100% up to speed with it but getting better. What would you recommend as number 2? I have a family member that probably could handle a paddle better than peddle, but they will only use it rarely.

How would something like a Malibu X14 do? Would be for the LA San Diego area plus the eastern sierra.
