This Weeks 'I Almost Died' Story - Saved by the Lord!!

So, while I'm out fishing with the boys I decide to take a leap of faith.

It was 8:30am, I was already about 1 mile east of the pack and I knew I had to be home by 11-ish but despite that I selfishly point my bow east and start peddling like a mad man, I get to the spot just after 9am. I immediately drop a 14" lizard fish on one rod and a 10" lizard fish on my other rod, a few minutes later I notice that the rod with the larger lizard fish isn't moving so I reel it up, lizard fish is dead so I hook a spanish and send it back down. Its now about 9:50am, I'm talking to myself, "I'll reel-em up at 10am and haul ass back to the launch, be there by 11am, load up and be home around 1130-ish". A few seconds go by and the line with the lizard fish is bendo!! ZZZZZZzzzzzzz, THUMP! THUMP! ZZZZZZZZ!!! Line is screaming out of the reel and as the fish is running I immediately start reeling up my other line. Other line is up, I pull the rod that is hooked out of the orca and I start fighting the fish, fish has some head shakes and is pulling line from my reel.....fish feels BIG!!! After about a minute or two my line goes slack.....FUCK, I LOST IT!!! I start to reel like a mad man and within a few seconds my rod goes full bendo again! ZZZZZZZZ!!! THUMP!! TRUMP!! TRUMP!!! Not more than 10 seconds go by and the fish pops off. DOUBLE FUCK!!!!

I have no choice but to reel my lines up and start heading in and start the 4 mile trek back to the launch, as soon as my lines are up I start pedaling like a mad man. I call my wife to tell her I might be late but I'll be there, she's not happy. I'm pedaling non-stop for an hour, I'm a little under a mile away from the launch and SNAP GOES MY MIRAGE DRIVE!!! FUCK!!!! I pull it out of the drive and I see that one of the chains busted right where the chain is crimped to the cable. Using my hands I move the peddles back and forth and notice that it still works with on cable so I pop it back in and start pedaling, I'm holding a steady speed and its all good until suddenly POP!!! FUUUUUCK!!! My idler cable busted, now I'm screwed. Have you ever had to paddle a PA14 more than 10 feet? I call my wife and in the 20 seconds that we were on the phone she called every bad word that exist in the spanish language.

I finally get to the launch, get to my truck, drive home, sh*t, shower and shave and jump on my bike. I get to the church services about 10-15 minutes before the service were over. Fortunately, because we were in a church my wife had to maintain her composure and be nice during the remainder of the services and not kill me.

Ummm...church? Upon entering, did the lights flicker?
You hear your people whispering "Pinche Perro" or "Chinga loco"?
Two or three stinger hooks on that lizard?
I googled you and found an old high school pic...nice hair.

It's not a lizard. It's a small great white.

Fraaaannnncoooooo! True story Jim, at Nat's (a bar in Pitt) my dad told Franco he'd kick his ass for hitting on my mom but since he loves the Steelers so much he let him off the hook by letting him buy a round. He promptly bought a round for the bar lol.

That spot on the cable always rusts. I usually grease and put some shrink tube around this open part of the cable. This is also why I went down to the outback.

I've had to pedal a 14 before, not easy. I now carry a wrench and a complete set of replacement cables with me. Have had to use them twice too.

Being a very poor Spanish speaker I would be interested in a briefing on all the bad words in Spanish.
