BAJA BASS
BAJA BASS for FLY Fishermen and LIGHT tackle fishermen
Spotties in Gonzaga up to 5 pounds. Calicos in Asuncion to 10+ pounds. These fisheries are very productive for those willing to accept some by-catch, YT, Sheephead, Bonita, Cabrilla and Snapper. In the Gonzaga complex the spotties are on all the reefs. And in Asuncion almost every rock holds Calicos. It is here where the kelp beds end that huge Calicos come to DIE. At least that is the local rumor. Boiler rocks are tough areas to beat, kelp is ok if you can find it. The calico fishery extends all the way to Punta Eugenia so there is well over a hundred miles to explore. I would be interested to set up a trip next year for those interested. Of course you could join the Asuncion trip this Thanksgiving or our Mag Bay trip for the New Year, leaving the day after Christmas and lasting thru 7 Jan 2017. Tight Lines to all!1.

Sounds real good. Will have to see if I can swing one of these trips. Next year might be a better bet.

Not much to it, we all split meals and car pool down and usually back. Sometimes ride share to keep costs low. I DO NOT CHARGE for these trips. We can beach camp, rent rooms or stay at OUR place in Gonzaga. Tight Lines Amigos.

Hey Bob. Do you ever catch the hold spot bass in Gonzaga? They're in the same genus (paralabrax) as dpotyies, dandies, and Calis. I think the Mexicans call them estrahenos. Beautiful fish n great eating. Mike
