Strong braid to top shot knot
By no means am I a knot expert but i do know one thing...This not has knot failed me yet. I've bent hooks or snapped top shot and never had this knot fail.
I learned this knot in japan while using varivas shock leader...very popular shock leader in japan....seems more flexible and less stiff than the stuff here. There maybe another name for this knot but as of now I'm going with the name on the pic. |

For ease and simplicity, and to pull down into a very small, tight knot that goes through pole eyelets easy, take a look at this one.
It's essentially no thicker than one single fold of the thicker 40#(?) diameter fluorocarbon. All the wraps are made with the thinner diameter braid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYP0RZZPBaQ

This is my go to knot for flouro or mono to spectra, I have never had the knot fail. I've had 40lb mono/flouro break before my knot.
The knot is extremely easy to do, I can do it on the water at LJ with current ripping and not end up in Mexico but if I do I'll get a chance to visit my uncle Don Felipe

Try tying that knot on water
With current ripping like it does at Lj . You will be in Mexico . I use same knot as niceguy. Estimated breaking strength 95% or more .

Yep this is my go to, a great knot. I know it as the improved albright and I do 7 turns up and 7 down. Also when I tighten all I do it wet and pull all four lines. Tags and mains together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nothing wrong with OP's knot if it works for him and he can tie it in a hurry when the fish are biting and the swell is rolling.
