Hard Merchandise: "She's a Screama"

Experience gained...one arse's trials and tribulations:

So I get bit and as Jay on the Hard Merchandise might yell out..."It's a screama Dave!". But in my reality, we don't have big Bluefin in March...okay, okay, big Bluefin in La Jolla during my night. As I'm about to burn off these drags and lose my braid, I quickly go through my Seal Checklist (yes, I am VERY experienced with dogs, lol):

  • Are they in the immediate area? Check, been pestering me this entire trip
  • Is the load-up and run just too good to be true? Yes, unfortunately waay too good to be true
  • Did it quickly move up to the surface? Yes, greyhounding, just below the surface non-stop and still moving further away from me, lol.
  • Did you hear it exhale, gag, scream or splash? Ummm, no but it's a dang seal, I KNOW IT!
Done, I decide to pop it off. Grab spool, load up yank. Nope. Grab spool, load up to the max, yank harder. Shoot, must be a juvenile dog (still in denial). Dang it again. Settle in to fight this seal to my yak. And so I'm gaining line, hopeful lol...still haven't heard it break water...even more hopeful. It just can't be...as I move the gaff closer to my side, haha.

50" 50# short fat beauty!

Jim

Nice croaker Jim. Never heard of one fighting at the surface.

Weight

I usually loose a few pounds each time I kayak. Based upon the fish you catch, I think you will be gaining!

Since, WCW rules were made specifically for you...why don't you try winning this month?
