I launched early, at 4ish, to a freak 6ft set.... Only I could have timed it worse!
After a wet start to the day I went to the pier and made micro 3" spanish. Started out to my spots but had to snap a quick picture of this: after admiring the sunup, I pinned one high and one low and proceeded to chase the birds way, way, way, outside. (the buoys are way outside in a FND) All that effort chasing birds and for what?.... It's a good thing I released this guy, cause the DFG chick was there to greet me upon landing. Third pelican in the last 12 months... next year, could we add these nuisances to the WCW eligibility.... I can't catch fish to save my life, but I'd be right up there with Josh, Brad, and D50 if seals and birds counted! In any case ,it was another beautiful day OTW! |

Chuck,
Any more details as to water temp, conditions, color, clarity? I've been marooned in my office with a killer deadline, so I haven't been out in a week. Did you talk to DFG, or was a just a "can I check your hatch" kind of thing. I actually had a DFG officer ask to look inside my Pelican case for my battery. I told him I have a cut up WSB stuffed in there. The box is something like 5"x7"x2"... |

Dave,
The temp was 56-57, my ff is not all that accurate with the transducer being mounted in the hull. The water was sedimentary green with 10-12 ft visibility. Flat with very slow 3-5 mph wind from the west, occasional large swells from the west. Clouds were high and slightly overcast until they built enough force to push inland around 10:30 or so, then beautifully sunny southern California day! The DFG chick was really nice, just asked a few questions for the survey they are doing for MLPA "study". She did not ask to check anything... Even the DFG knows I can't catch fish! Just a reminder to everyone: it is a new year, with all the DFG activity, don't forget to get your licenses.... or not if you are boycotting. |

Chuck, you are due for big fish. Hope I'm there when you pull in a toad!

Nice sunrise...thanks for the greenbacks a couple weeks ago, though I didn't have any better luck than you.
