I make mine on the cheap. 130# Dacron with a loop on both ends & a 99cent Store carabiner. Never have a problem. Saved me the only time I ever rolled @ LJ. I use this system for all poles, net, & gaff ect. Or U can spend a ton of & on store bought.

I don't leash anything except pliers to my seat and my radio to my PFD. I use old telephone coil cord.

Go to the 2:10 mark and you'll see the best way to strap your rods

Phone cords, zip ties, electrical tubing, and some S-biners from Home Depot. Don't skimp on the Carabiners I say. A good leash can last a while.

i use 3 types. my fishing partner made some leashes out of weedwacker line. look it up on youtube. i use those for areas where i want a tighter shorter coil...mirage drive, saftey paddle, halibut bat and bait tank net. those all sit out of the way. i use the hobie rod leashes for all my rods where i can disconnect them fast. i use the hobie retractible leashes for my pliers & bait knife. i installed all stainless steel loops on my yak to lash it all down and clip to. my motto is "at any time i can flip and all is secured."
hope that helps...josh. |

I use the bungie style cords from casino loyalty programs for my rods and paddle. I use the coiled plastic version for my pliers. Just tie on one of those small carabineers. I tie a split ring around my rods and paddle using paracord for the biner to clip on to.
