Slooooooooow at the Jewel
No fish or even a bite this morning.
Bait was easily made. Squid was unproductive, also Water was cool (57-58) and green. Launch and landing were as easy as it gets. Good luck out there. Geno

I will second that and raise you a few Sea Lions. Lots of boats and yaks for a Tues. but did not see any of them hooked up to anything but dogs. Lots of Red Crabs from top to bottom.

Dead out there, didn't see any hookups nor any fish landed. Bait easy to make and willing to throw themselves at the sabiki but they are the little 6-7" variety. What happened to the monster fish? |

I noticed the bigger baits were biting when trolling the sabiki, or casting and winding pretty quick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did they swim back to Mexico? Or did they go north to Alaska? I hear they catch yellowtail in Oregon this time of year?

Some big fat meany in a tin boat with a NOAA shirt on kept nose hooking macs and letting them swim at me, must have been a local flexing his muscle..

You mean my report from a month ago? Nope, they didn't go anywhere. Each and every one of them were caught already. Not one YT left in LJ now. |

My first post here. Been lurking a bit. Lots of good info. Started fishing off my kayak because the diving's not really happening.
I spent the day out there yesterday. Hooked up around 3:30 after scorching in the sun all day. Farmed it like the king of kooks. Still, one hell of a nice afternoon on the water. |

Let it eat the bait longer, and just wind on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hot and dead. I made the mistake of wearing the waders. I was thinking "it's winter!, I'll stay nice and dry!" and all I did was sweat my balls off. Was wetter getting out of the water than I would have been in trunks.
Does Fisherman's Belly have any recipes for greenbacks? |

I was skunked yesterday. Fished from 0445 to 1330. Had many people ask me how I did and they reported the same results as myself. I did not see any hookups and didn't hear any hooting and hollering.
I did see a small thresher tearing through some bait twice. I considered throwing a fly-lined greenie at it, but I wouldn't kill a baby and certainly wasn't interested in dealing with the release of one. Those little ones can come up to the boat quick and are full of piss and vinegar when they do. I am sure getting one to a kayak would take longer wearing them out some, but I was okay with not finding out. I spoke with a guy I met on the beach who mentioned seeing a much larger model outside of me.
