Started out 2016 the right way. Launched at 4am with some new friends. Waves were nice and small except for the last wave which soaked my upper half. There was no bait to be had until we made it past the kelp, then it was bait heaven. I mean full stringers of GBs on my sabiki and good size too (6-9in). Loaded up my hobie tank with about 30 macs and then sent one down. Used a three way swivel with 65lbs braid(main line), 50lbs floro leader to a 4/0 circle hook, then a 20lbs mono line to a 6oz torpedo sinker (its easier to break off in case I get it snagged. I got hit hard around grey light but couldn't set the hook, felt like a ghost but oh well. Around 8:15 I see my buddy hooked up on something so I start to real up to go see the action when my rig (same as before) get slammed and takes off straight down. I Was in about 90ft of water at the time, and a little worried about a kelp fiasco. The hook sets then I feel the strongest head shakes I've ever felt. After about a 10 minute fight which was straight up and down (no real sleigh ride to speak of) I finally get the fish to color, then gaffed and on board. Weighed in at Dana Landing for an official weight of 35.2lbs, I didn't gut her out at sea but did cut out gills and drain the blood so maybe a little closer to that 36lbs mark. Fork length 44.5in, total length 48in This is my PB which smashed my previous one by 10lbs. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/i...we/yt-icon.gif
