Sunday, SD bay
What a beautiful day on the water yesterday. Launched at dawn from Shelter Island, got bait and headed out the channel to look for halibut...unfortunately, 619-swim-dog already had all the keepers!
6 short buts, several bass and 3 sculpin. On the way back in on the other side, I got hooked into something BIG. big headshakes, rainbow bend and pulling line...unfortunately it went straight around a piling and I could feel the muscles cutting the line until..pop. The day was not without drama...seems like mine never . Check out my thread in general about my mirage drive failure. |

Thanks for the report, six shorties sounds like it was worth it to me. Especially with the big hook up toward the end. Ive had sessions on the bay where you can't find a single sign of life and then in one little pocket, everything goes ape shizzle. Get back out there and find out what it was!

What dd you get the sculpin on? I love their taste but can never really find them in the bays.

Live chovie on the reverse dropper loop and small swim bait bounced off the bottom. Fish the deep spot just past the point by the USCG dock.
