9/28 carlsbad (finally)

Launch @ 6:30

Surf was low and managable (1.7ft @ 14 seconds predicted) water was flat and calm until 10:00ish when the wind kicked up and got a little more choppy. Started with fog, Wind was light, temperature was perfect, not really hot. Even though the swell was from the south, wind was from the north, result south coastal drift.

Partner with fish finder said fish activity was crazy right after entering, in <15 ft of water. Nibbles were strong until 8:30ish, partner caught nothing after.

1 small mac and 1 spanish on size 14 sabiki, one small mac on gold spoon

1 yellowtail @ 10:30 at south end of the kelp forest, water depth unknown caught with small mac flylined.

(partner) 1 small unweighted calico in dispersed edge of north end of the forest caught with small red plastic with added squid tentacle.

Trash everywhere, does the city dump street runoff right there or something?

Congratulations on the launch and the yellow.

I've noticed a lot of trash out there myself right around the 100 ft depth. It's like someone trash can was dumped. I even saw a medium bucket out there. I don't know what that is about.

What a shame on the trash. Very tough...

With regards to the yellow,

How big did it come out to be? Any pictures?

Congrats and thanks for the report!

I didn't post pictures because they didn't come out all that well, was distracted, tired, and he had already been roughed up a bit by the burlap by the time I remembered I hadn't taken pictures yet.

Weighed 23lbs at home, 40ish inches tip to tip (rough measure with tail frozen at an angle, didn't fit in cooler).
