Lj 7/23 first mako off the yak!!
captbeard and I made bait at 630ish, had a few greenies in the tank. So we started trolling towards the north west corner. When we hit the depth of 110' I hooked up and my reel starts screaming, he's running hard and breaches about 5' in the air about 40 yards directly in front of us. He breached at least 5 times then the battle begin, it took 15 mins to bring to color. The fight still wasn't over, captbeard gaffed the angry fella and he goes wild biting my yak. We had to stab the guy in the gills to put him to sleep. We bleed him out for a good 20 mins, then we man handled him into captbeards outback hatch head first, with half his body hanging out and went back to fishing for yellows ...

Thats one I just dont want. Too many ugly variables. Props. Getting that chainsaw dispatched and back to the beach trumps all.
A proper report w some details would be cool.

Post the video. Saw a 14 sec clip on face book of the shark coming up and biting the front of the kayak. Just as the gaff was sunk into it.

I wouldn't try a Mako even that size by myself on my kayak, nor with Julie helping me, as I wouldn't want to see her get hurt, even as brave as she has shown.
We've both landed Threshers close to the 100lb. mark, and both have brought Makos alongside our 'yaks while fishing together, but decided against the potential for injury. The ones we brought alongside were approximately the size of yours, and looking quite pissed off those times. I love eating both Mako and Threshers, with Threshers the only fish I'll order in restaurants. I'd have to try them side by side and cooked the same way to make the call on which tastes better. Congrats on the brave, great and tasty catch.
