HorseShoe Kelp?

Has anybody paddled/peddled to Horseshoe kelp before? Thinking about launching from Cabrillo beach. Looks to be about a 4-5 mile peddle from the beach.
Any inputs?

I think Andy and someone else did it. I'd just buy a scoop of bait and go straight out

Different horseshoe. But also another great place to launch if you have balls

Horseshoe did it once earlier this year, I'd do it again.

Planning on Friday if you would like to join. did you launch from the beach or boat launch? Boat launch seems very far but only way to stop for bait unless making bait is easy.

Haha that's mainly where I kelp fish. I swear one foot shore break feels like 6 foot regular waves.

I'd do the beach this time and head west toward the canyon, then south to HS. We did the launch which was a good call because the paddle back would have been tougher as the wind came up pretty good from the NNW.

Checking out Salt Creek this morning if I get bored soaking bait, may swing outside.

Let us know how you do up at salt creek Andy. Might check it out Saturday. Hopefully you can make some bait up there.

@ salt creek yesterday, current was perfect. Had a chance at a good one fish hit the kelp hard and lost him.
