Apples to apples...Chirp Vs Chirp
Ok. Now that Lowrance has CHIRP technology in their HDS 5 unit, does anyone know how it compares to the Dragonfly units? I'm all ears... or eyes!!!

Not sure about the dragonfly, when I asked for info at the FH show the guy would only say it used only one frequency that could vary. I asked if it was self determined and he said no. So I'm not sure about that one.
I had much better luck at the Lowrance booth. The chirp models work with three frequencies. The lower frequency shows general detail in a cone around the watercraft. The higher frequency has a smaller cone area around the craft but is more detailed. The HDI frequency is actually a small area going horizontal to the craft and directly beneath it. Essentially, the first two show the general area and the last one show right below you in high definition. I just bought an Elite 7 chirp model for my PA17, which I pick up this week. I will let you know how it works.
