Another Fishfinder Question...
Has anyone tried the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 215 Portable fish finder.
Its a self contained unit with a suction cup mount for the transducer. It looks simple enough to stick the mount on the bottom of the Yak, then remove and store the whole unit for launch and landings. about $140 take a look http://www.humminbird.com/products.asp?id=1030 |

Billy
i have used the 215 (non portable) on my tandem for a little over a year, seems to be a great little ff, but i hear from others that it doesnt last long. i am getting a little corrosion at the terminals... even with dialectic grease. as far as the suction cup... doubt it will hold to the bottom of a plastic yak. or if it does it would be easy to knock off. i gooped mine to the inside of the hull, but i might try rigging it to go through the scupper hole if i had to do it over. west marine has the 215 for something like 90 bucks and there is a $15 rebate now hope that helps don |
