Savage Gear crabs?
These things look pretty sweet, smaller size for spotties, larger for sandies / calico. I have read that the vast majority of bay bass forage is crustaceans. Thoughts? I have seen a few pics on Savage Gear's FB page showing sandies and spotties caught on these, going to try them in SD bay over the better tides swings in the weeks ahead.

Not sure of the lures, but I know that the bass like crabs. I occasionally catch small ones drifting on the tide and drop them down, they don't sit there long.

I've used large mouth bass style creature baits and jigs for spotties with success. But mostly for flipping to pilings though. Never used them out in the open water. I worked with a guy who studied spottie foraging and diet as his masters thesis. And yep, their diet is mostly invertebrates. I'm sure those baits would work. Give em a try and post up your results. They look good. A lot of the bass I've been catching in the bay have been spitting up pencil clams and a few really small crabs
