Still no Yellowtail
Went out again today to try for my first Calif yellowtail on my kayak. No such luck. Bait was harder to come by, mostly Spanish macs and what I did catch were taken by seals. I did manage to get another PB on this trip, so it wasn't a bad day. I even landed without flipping.
This baby was caught on a Spanish Mac in 100' on a halibut rig with a three-way swivel & 5 oz sinker Dan, it was nice to meet you at the launch and thanks again for watching my gear while I went to get my truck. 42" at 28 pounds |

Way to go Sven. Your by catch is very impressive. Try for some rock fish and you might get your yellow.

You sure make it hard to feel bad when you don't catch a yellowtail. Congrats on another very nice fish.
When down south next month try targeting a dorado, maybe that will get you the yellow bite.
