how should I spool my senator 3/0
I bought an older senator 3/0 and want to spool it. I plan on using it for threshers and likewise. Im not sure how to spool it. Should I use mono or braided. Or braided with a mono backing. And what # mono should I use. Suggestions?
Question 2: what # of leaders and hooks do you use. I was going to use #80 mono, snell knot, circle hook 6/0 with live bait. at lest thats what I decided after looking around the internet. I dont see too many people using steel leaders. Set up suggestions would be nice too if you can. I want to make a trip next weekend. |

I had a 3/0 spooled with mono 40# back when I fished a skiff and landed a 73# Bigeye with it, I'd be worried about the narrower spectra getting in the big gap between the spool and frame.
