Safety lights
Trying to be ready for the warmer days. I was wondering if you guys kayak at night, and if so, what do you use as safety lights on your boats. I've seen some nice flag poles with light on top, but they are around $90.
Thanks |

I use to put a bright electric lantern inside my yak. Depending on the color and density, it would light it up like a giant light stick.

If 90.00 is too much also there is the non-folding version with the same light, the VisiPole. These guys start at 50.00 and feature the same light just doesnt fold and doesnt include flag. On this subject, we have done a few large Group Buys on these products before. Is there any interest in trying to do another? In the past discounts have been as high as 20%. We just need enough people to make it happen. |

Yakattack!!!
Yeah it's pricey but it's the best light out there, from an awesome company. They take care of their customers time and again. You won't be disappointed.

Whatever you do don't over think it, its not supposed to be rocket science. Also, when or if you do buy or build something make sure its waterproof and don't be afraid to spend a little extra money. A decent headlamp or a decent light pole may cost you a little more but sometimes that's the difference between your lamp working when you're ready to launch or you're lamp being completed corroded because the inside got wet.

Safety lights
Thank you everyone for your input. I'm in on the group buy as well.
For the solar light suggestion, I had some in my backyard before my dog chewed every single one of them. They are too weak to be used on a kayak IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ACR ELECTRONICS C-Light Personal Light, $12 at West Marine. You can attach it to a piece of PVC or bamboo, or a busted pole or whatever.

This is the light that Scotty uses on their light systems. I have personally never been very impressed by them however the cost is quite low. As for the GB I would say we have enough folks so after the Fred Hall madness I will go ahead and set up a buy. |
