HOLY CRAP!!!!! I hope no one was killed. That's going to take months to fix.
My brother travels down that road 1-2 times a month from Cali to San Quintin.

The irony of the name of the trip. My recommended change for plans would be going down to San Felipe or further South. Although, you can cut across to Ensenada from there. That will be a lot of extra miles though.

Can you imagine the driver of that truck and what was going on in his shorts while that was happening?
The news was saying there's a road slightly inland that still goes down there to Ensenada, I'm wondering if this is just North of Ensenada, of if it's more up near TJ. If it's closer to TJ they are in trouble. http://bajadock.wordpress.com/2013/1...ll-road-slide/ Looks like it took out the coastal route but the more inland route is still accessable https://maps.google.com/maps?q=ensen...ed=0CAoQ_AUoAg

Checked a couple routes from La Jolla Shores to Ensenda.
Going thru Tecate instead of TJ is almost the same distance, less than 10 miles difference, but it's about 45 minutes longer (surface streets etc.) but those times are all out the window now! Especially with the traffic that will have to diverted https://maps.google.com/maps?q=tj+to...ed=0CAgQ_AUoAg |
