8/28 Newport. A dedication to JeffB
Since my first trip which had been remarked with flips and losing gears, I got very discouraged in kayak fishing and thought of giving up. But through this forum, I get to know a lot of great, kind and generous people I would like to call friends, some I've never met, whom made me felt blessed to see there are still so many people out there who still cared for a stranger. To these people, there isn't a word in my mind I can find to show how grateful I am to your helps, support, experiences, and quality spared gears. And I would like to dedicate all my future kayak trips to you guys, whom got me back in the water. If you don't mind, I will post your name & picture of your gifts on my trips as I got them set up.
Another failed trip Launched early in the morning out of kids beach in newport. Equipped light with just a few swimbaits, jigs, and one set up given to me by JeffB, a custom wrap Phenix X12, this is my all time favorite rod, not because it's looks and performs wonderful. It was wrapped by Jeff himself. What a wonderful gift. My initial plan was to target bay bass around the bay and was hitting the docks with a jig. Got a few tap here and there but nothing stick. At one point I got pushed by the wave & wind too close to the dock so I used the paddle to push my kayak out. Crack. Only fished for 30 minutes and after a few paddles I'm left with half a blade on one side of my paddle. So much for free paddle that came with the yak. Anyway, in with what's left of the paddle, packed up and hit the nearby jetty. Caught this fish with the gift from Jeff from the sand with a LC 110sp. Didn't have a ruler, didn't matter since I'm releasing it anyway, may be a barely legal, who knows . A dedication to you Jeff, thank you bro. Such a sweet rod. |

Nice, glad you made it back on the water. As you fish, it will get better, looks like you are going to need another paddle. I've got a spare, pm me.
