Well I was planing to a Bait making trip for lobster season and halibut trips but Murphys Law had other plans for me today.

For starters I got a late start waiting to see if the weather would hold or not...Then on the 605 S while was on my way to Cherry beach it happend!!!.

The guy in the car in front tossed his cigar out and landed on the roof...The roof holding my kayak!!!.

We heard a nosie, Pulled off at first gas station we saw and found a smoking strap, Burnt whole in kyak.

Since I have a FND model was able to get a good look on the inside of my kayak of the burnt area. I didnt see any light coming thru and didnt seem to be thinned out.

So now I am far from home...own a kayak shaped ash tray and a burnt rack strap (COD).

Started thinking where can I get a COD soft rack????? OEX!!!

Called ahead...they were happy to sell me a single rack. Made my trip home a safer one.

I dont know of any other plance that would just sell me a single unit.





On side note anyone know if theres away to armor up the burnt area? Keel guard do the job?
