Mexico Trip
Well where do I begin...about a month or so ago, we came up with the brilliant idea of heading somewhere down to mexico for some WFO rockfish and halibut...well, long story short....that's not what we found...
We ended up at a place called Castros Camp, in Erindira. I've heard many good things about this place, and how good the fishing was or is....we wanted to find out if it was good fishing from a kayak. So passports in hand we head south for the border. Checking out the Scenery The Restaurant guy ED, Cool dude We didn't catch many fish but we had a great time, it was and adventure for sure, especially the launches and landings. We were shittn our pants on the way out and on the way in...except for greg...we almost all got destroyed by a couple of huge swells, that I swear should have taken us all out. Highlight of my trip was launching on the 2nd day and meeting up with jim who was patiently waiting, watching the break and swell. Launches here can be tricky with all the giant boiler rocks that are around. We had to squeeze between 2 giant boilers with a few smaller boilers in between with a 3-5 foot break. So Jim thought he had it figured out....he was telling me wait....wait....let this one go by...wait...OK GO GO GO!!!! Ok here we go.....then I see it coming...oh sheeeiiit!!!! The wave is building...but were committed no turning back now...I peddle, sorry pedal as hard as I can with my PA, I see a wall of green water...I'm not going to make it...the wave is at least 2' over my head...Im thinking it's over...the wave crashes right on my face, blows my hat right off my head...and when everything settles, Im right side up and safely on the other side. I look to my left and see Jims kayak upside down, then I look in front of me and still notice that Im still in the kill zone...Im thinking jim your on your own....sorry The next wave is coming so I haul ass into it and barely make it over that one, then I'm home free...boy..was that not fun. Some how jim rights his kayak and makes it over to the rest of us soaked completely...but wide awake.. I wish I could tell you guys that we caught a shitload of fish...but we didn't...oh well next time. I'm sure some of the boys will post up some of their own personal stories and pictures. Yep...for those of you that think we suck your right!

Anyone who thinks fishing with your buddies is based on how many fish you catch hasn't been paying attention. Catching fish is a by-product of the overall experience, you guys seem to understand that just fine
You guys look like you had an awesome trip. Looking forward to the vids. |

So i saw this video where jorge was going over this huge wave in these mexican waters, and Tony voice screamming at the top of his lungs as jorge goes over the cresting wave.
From the way it looked, THOSE WAVes were breaking far from the beach

My dad used to take my brothers fishing at Castros back in the 60's. I was too young. Now it is my turn and they are too old. |

Since Tony chimed in on this "adventure" first, I may as well jump in. That swell this weekend at times was...was HUGE. I've never had a BIG wave hit the back of my head before it hit the yak. Why I didn't have the GoPro on...DAMMIT...how I ever survived that...I have no idea...I always wondered if I could pop back on a yak in a hurry and I answered that one, yes I can...I had to or I would've died. I knew no one was going to be able to help me in that spot.
Here's the cleanest part of the GoPro I can offer from the inside of our $45 a night "suite" that slept SIX...!!! http://youtu.be/lptzzWY4fO8 It's got some "language" to it...you gotta turn the volume up to hear Tony talking about the restaurant guy Ed. The closest thing to Mexican food that Ed served was a Polish Quesadilla...? A great trip that required no fish catching at all to have some fun. Team Sewer is the real deal. Jim

I had a blast on this trip. Some of the best moments:
Watching Jim disappear behind a large wave and appear from the ocean two seconds later, soaking wet.....ready to fish! Hearing stories about the incredible fishing we have at home while on vacation in Mexico Watching Roby (160 lbs) eat more tacos than Tony (NOT 165 lbs) Measuring the snoring in our cabin at 87 decibels Laughing while Tony put things in Greg's butt! (Not kidding, you will have to ask them about that!!!!!) Watching George frolic around half naked trying to sell his body for a panga ride. (see photos) Good times boys! We now know for sure that Mexico has no fish. Smack that ass! Fresh fish delivery |

Not enough fish on deck...
Not enough tacos.. Not enough toilet paper... Too much ass-crack... I had a great time with some great fellas. We gotta do that sh*t again. I was soooo tired, but it was well worth it. |
