your local beach. . .
Pull out the trout rods. . .
buy berkley gulp bait cammo sand worms, 1/4 egg sinkers, #6 mosquito hooks (carolina-rigged).... toss them out to the surf.... Catch and release/keep as many surf perch as you can... You may even catch spot & yellow fin croaker, corbina, ? It's an almost guaranteed method to catch. Besides, once the kids are done, they can dig in the sand. Or you fish and hook up and have the kids reel them in. |

Santee lakes. No fishing license required.

My kid hangs onto a boogie board tied onto the back of my PA when I hit la jolla. The extra drag isn't too bad but I gotta make room for the bait tank.

Hey, I didn't consider the big wave conditions that south facing beaches are experiencing this weekend. Salt Creek was pumping, I can only imagine how big surf is down south.
With waves like that, there will be a lot of water moving maybe some sneaker sets which could be trouble for the little ones. ALso, likely pretty hard to get a fish on the line with those types of conditions. I'd nix my idea only cause of the surf size. |
