Spar Buoys do not mark the MLPA at LJ

Most of us already know this, but today I saw half a dozen guys fishing in the MLPA, thinking the spar buoys mark the edge. Those buoys line up to the left side of the Cove, but the MLPA takes a line off Alligator Point to the right of the Cove, a further 100 yards or so west.
I could care less otherwise, but I'd hate to see someone get a ticket because of bad information, so here is a super easy way to tell if you are in or out of the LJ MLPA - Look for the tall flag pole up on the hill and keep paddling west until it lines up with the edge of the white building. Thats the exact boundary verified by two separate GPS units.

Great information for those without a GPS. I think this is another reason however to either have a FF with GPS or a hand held GPS. Mark the spots in the GPS and you won't have any issues.

If you have an iPhone there is an app called fish alert. It will show your location relative to protected areas.

That was one of my two methods of verifying the lineup...

I'm more afraid of the border patrol gun boats at night!
