newport report 5/09
spent a long day on the water thursday, determined to catch something to eat this weekend
checked out the edge of the canyon in the morning. nobody home went to the kelp in the afternoon to shake off the skunk. ended up with my first sheephead, first legal calico of the year, and a sculpin to boot 11 hours on the water, no bathroom breaks. i kinda like this fishing stuff, even if i don't always know what i'm doing good luck to everybody out there this weekend |

very nice!!!! the edge of the canyon doesnt produce so much, and it gets real steep real fast. you need to fish around the 180-220ft zone. just zig-zag around that depth looking for a school of fish on your sonar.
