gopro 3 silver vs black for kayak fishing
So besides the remote is it worth the extra 100bucks? How is the battery life on the black?

If you don't need a remote and a smaller overall platform, a used Hero 2 will will save you money. The Hero 3 silver and the Hero 2 are nearly identical photo/video quality. For the Hero3 it's black or bust.

The video quality of the black is a good bit better than the 2. And you can get 60 fps at the top resolution which is good for slomo. The battery life sucks for all the 3s (about an hour).

The remote uses the wifi and that will drain your battery. I got the silver and the battery backpac that way i have 2-1/2 hours of record time or 4-6 of stand by time. If you need real high quality video go with the black.
