1000 miles of wind
Well I got back from Baja a couple days ago, 5 days early. You guys missed out on a shitty fishin trip but me and the bitch had a good time anyways. Started at El Socorro, I waited two days with the yak all set to launch but the surf was pounding. After two days I loaded up the yak and headed for Gonzaga bay. I camped at Papa Fernandez behind the dunes and waited two more days for the wind to stop which it didn't and loaded up and went to Punta Final. At Punta Final I was able to get out starting on the second day. I fished two days there catching Popano, Triggerfish,Spotties and a few others including a red wrass that was pretty cool looking. The largest fish being the Triggers up to 6lb. I left Punta Final To check out Laguna Manuela. What a disapointment. I've want to check this place out for years but I got back into the truck and headed north to Santa Rosalillita. A beautiful place with lots of wind. Tried some shore fishin for 1/2 hour for nada. Gillnets are killing Baja (still)
Spent a couple day here to recover from all the off roading and headed back to El Socorro but never even attempted that because it was victory at sea. So off to castro's camp to get a litte fishin in but the wind was still howling when I got to that turn off so I called it a trip. I did get a chance to explore a lot of new places a found some nice one's which I will get back to on another trip. I also met a lot of nice people from around the world. Thats it! Ouch. That sucks. Sounds kind of like our trip to San Carlos. Windy and whitecapped as all hell, and we along with a few other boats got stuck in the Santa Rosalia/Punta chivato/Isla Tortuga area and couldn't make the crossing back to San Carlos.

Thanks for the report Steve, it's always fun to check out new places in baja even if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Welcome back Steve, glad you are safe! I agree with Trevor, sometimes the adventure is just as fun....as was evident on our San Carlos trip as well!
