Gen 2 HDS Insight?
Anybody know if it is better than the first gen Nautic Insight (not missing a bunch of good fishing area)?

GA,
It's better. Higher resolution by far, but that also consumes a bit more power. As far as topographic detail, if you get too focused, it does disappear from a "Google Earth" perspective, and goes to a "Basic Map" view. Very lame IMO. As a finder, it takes a bit of time/practice/patience to dial it in, but once you get it honed in, it's a pretty solid unit. Bought mine from WM, and I bought the "anything at all" warranty coverage. Glad I did. I'm on my 3rd unit. Installed correctly. Heatshrinked connections, then shrink wrapped, all tucked up and bitchin'. The unit itself took a dump. Whatever you want to call it...hardware/software. Power on...HDS5 stays on the screen. Next time...vertical lines. It's more of a PITA to remove and then reinstall it. Not hard, just time. Extended warranty was $75-$80 iirc. I've always been a H-bird customer, but bought the Gen2 per others suggestions, and the fact that it literally drops in on the PA12. Hope this helps.
