Bait report, shark sighting
hit La Jolla to load up on bait. it was easy to find. at one point it was so thick my FF was reading the bottom at 10ft when i was in 65ft of water.
45 spanish, 2 greenies, 2 sardine and one bone. saw a white shark too. really close encounter. i wasn't paying attention to what was in front of me and reading marks on the FF when i looked up and seen a big fin coming right at me. took me by surprise and i popped open my center hatch to grab a pre rigged wire leader and kept peddling towards it. got within 15ft and saw it was a great white. thinking i could judge size i was saying to myself it looks like a 9fter, then watched it go right next to me and was just as long as my yak, super thick too, thicker than a 55gallon drum. put the leader away and started to circle around it to snap a pic and when i made my 180 he had gone to deep to see in the pics. was really cool to see though.

at that time, i was just past the reserve and coming out of 400ft of water over the canyon, probably in around 200ft at the time due to the drop off. so, maybe 2.5 miles north of the point? picked up a nice cabby out there too.

Only you would think of trying to "accidentally" catch a white Chris.....
When you hit Florida I fully expect to see you with a pic of a monster Tiger shark from the surf. |

sounds intense. maybe he was wondering what all the fuss was about when you were catching all of that bait.
