11/29 SD Bay Grumpy morning

I let the 12-15 kt E wind keep me from going to LJ and went to the bay to look for flatties. Wind seemed to die at first light, glassy until 10, picked up as I paddled in at 10 AM. Got a healthy $5+$2 scoop of med and large dines and fished along North Island. Low flying boneys were hitting my dines on the bottom, a couple small cuda , spotties and big sandbass. Only flattie landed was real short, on the plastic, caught quite a few spotties on plastic, it was a fish a cast for the first hour of light and then shut off, with just the sardines getting wacked.

You had more gumption than we did.
We were loaded last night and woke up at 3:00AM for La Jolla. When we saw the 10-14 mph winds at the Glider port we stayed home. This cold spell also deterred us.
We prefer not to do the bay on Julie's school days.
Thanks for the report, better luck next time.

Wind NE 10 kt. Wind waves 1 ft or less. Swell W 2 to 3 ft at 10 seconds.

I am considering a 10ish launch after dropping my daughter at school

I did the same thing today, LJ looked windy and bumpy so I launched into the bay around 8:30am, landed around 12:30pm. Caught a couple of short halibut and several sand bass. Saw two aircraft carriers headed out to sea, SN68 and 76.

Too cold

Andy, do you know it was 41 degrees at dawn yesterday.
It is close to 4:30 now and the temp here at the beach
in O.B. is 33 degrees. I was going to fish L. J. early, but I think
surfing in that tropical 64 degree water sounds better until
it warms up a bit. Water temp 64 minus 33 air temp = a 31
degree difference. Yea buddy warm water. I haven't seen it
this cold at the beach since the mid 1980,s. Small waves
today.
Good luck all stay warm
Paul
