First cbass of the year

I bought my revolution 13 from a fellow member on bee bought my fish finder and got it installed by andy at oex.
Two weeks ago i heard of local cbass bite that was going on and i was itching to go but could not because of my finals at school. I took care of my finals and decided to go out and give it a try on saturday with hopes of it not being too late.
Woke up at 3 am and headed over to the launch ramp meet up my buddy jim at 3:30 got the kayak rigged up and as we were about to get on the water more kayakers showed up. So i knew this was a good sign. Went to the receiver to buy some sardines just in case if the cbass didn't bite we would still have a chance at some halibut.
Had some fresh frozen that my buddy gus was able to get for me from the boat he works on and decided that this would be the best choice for bait since no one had any live squid and i had heard that it was nearly impossible to make it.
Got to the spot in about one hour slow trolled to dropper loops and got picked up around 7:20 AM. Fought the fish for no more than 5 minutes brought it up and gaffed it right in the head and then put it on my game clip.
Called my buddy and sent everyone pictures of the fish. Waited to see if my buddy would get one but got tired of waiting. Headed in at 10:30 am. filleted the fish and made some ceviche and boy was it good.

The fish maxed out 2 different scales at 50 lbs the people working at the landing on the pier estimated it 55 lbs and it was 56 inches long. I should of gone to captain kids but thought about it when i got home. I am happy knowing it was over 50 lbs.

Nice catch! A couple people might chime in to agree or disagree, but I've always heard that WSB is best when cleaned and kept on ice for 24 hours prior to fileting. I haven't had it any other way, but the 24hour ice has always done me well. Congrats!

Congrats on the Tanker Seabass, Jim sent me a picture mail in the morning of the beast you caught. When you peddled back into the harbor I was paddling out. I had some studying for a test that had to be done, but I couldn't fight the Fever.. I launched at about 11am and did not make it back to the dock till 10:30 pm with no love for me. Oh well but dang that is one heck of a paddle to get out there.

Beast

I was coming in on my yak that afternoon as you were loading your's on top of the car...nobody was on the dock...only that beast of a WSB...It was quite a sight from water level. I should have taken a photo but I was too flabbergasted by the size of that fish.
Nice catch for a new kayak owner!
