First run with new Teramar TMCX76H
Went out and picked up a new rod and reel . Grabbed a combo recommened on here by someone earlier this month, a Teramar TMCX76H with a Shimano Cardiff 400. Launched out of Cabrillo yesterday and was casting a 1oz Warhead slayer with a Hammer swimbait. I made it maybe a dozen casts and then snap, the tip breaks off. This is not common right? I was a little unhappy. I picked it up last week at Baja Fish Gear in Lomita along with a Teramar TMCX8H. The other Teramar performed great. I never even pulled the plastic of the cork handles. I Forgot to take it off at home and didn't want to pull it on the water.
Anyways, i know Shimano has a good warranty on these but 12 casts? UGH! I am going to take it bake to Baja Fish for a replacement today assuming they have one in stock. If not I hear i can dirve out to Shimano in Irvine and replace it there. Anyone have any bad experiences with getting replacements on these Teramars? Dan |

Nope, it broke on the cast. I watched it fly down the line. I was casting towards the wall on the inside harbor. On a side note, If you haven't used those slayer heads before, they are great for kelp, I almost never get snagged with them

Broke on cast? that sucks~~
I step on my SHIMANO CLARUS the second day after i bought it, and broke the exact spot like you did. Not sure if BAJA will exchange for you, but Shimano will do it.

I'm worried that they will claim I broke it by stepping on it or some thing like that. I was actually on the water and it happened as descibed. I couldn't believe it. I even still have the rod rigged since the break. I almost came in but I had the new 8 footer so I just played with it for the rest of the day. Supper bummer though.
I need to head out to Fry's in FOuntain Valley anyways, I think I will just drive the extra 15 miles to Shimano and see what they say. Dan |
